When you have a two-year-old and a six-week-old, things are rarely quiet—and that is usually when you get the best photos.
A recent in-home newborn session was the perfect example of life with a toddler and a new baby: busy, fast-paced, and full of love.
We started the morning with the big sister accidentally spilling her breakfast smoothie all over the floor. While Mom and Dad cleaned up the mess, I took pictures of the baby boy hanging out in his swing, completely unbothered by what was happening in the kitchen. It gave us a great chance to get a few quiet shots of him on his own.
Once the floor was clean, we kept moving.
Instead of trying to force a two-year-old to sit still, we just let her move. She showed off her favorite toys, gave her baby brother gentle pats on the head, and jumped in and out of her parents' laps.
The photos turned out full of life, movement, and the real excitement of adding a new baby to the family. These busy mornings pass quickly, and having photos of how life actually looked will mean so much to this family down the road.
