Family reunions are wonderful for a lot of reasons—catching up with relatives, endless food, and traditions that get passed down through the years. But every now and then, the urge to break away for a little adventure is just too strong to resist.
While gathered in central Utah for a big family reunion, some cousins and I realized we were only a short drive from the sweeping slopes of Little Sahara Sand Dunes. Sensing an opportunity that was far too good to pass up, we quietly slipped away from the craziness for a fast-paced couples mini-session in the sand.
And let’s be honest: we *may* have skipped out on the kinda awkward "cousin dance" back at the reunion to make it happen. Zero regrets.
The dunes delivered absolute magic. The sun peeking low over the rolling white hills cast a warm, dreamy glow across the sand. Because we were working quickly against the fading light, there was no time for over-thinking... It was all about kicking off shoes, swaying in the breeze, and embracing some of my favorite tried-and-true poses.
Short, sweet, and wildly spontaneous—this session was proof that sometimes the best photos happen when you ditch the schedule (and the family line dance) to chase the sunset. Looking at the gallery now, you’d never guess these shots were squeezed into a quick break from reunion chaos!
