There is an extra layer of magic in the room when parents wait nine whole months to find out if they’re adding a son or a daughter to their family. For this sweet couple, their third baby’s birth was the ultimate surprise—and the moment they finally got to announce, "It's a boy!" was pure joy.
I met up with them in their postpartum room at Lone Peak Hospital in Draper, Utah, just a short time after his arrival. Standing by the window with the soft mountain light streaming in, you could just feel the deep, relaxed confidence that comes with welcoming baby number three. Mom and Dad were totally in their element, absolutely smitten with their new little guy.
As for the star of the show? He kept us on our toes in the best way possible!
He bounced back and forth between being the sleepiest, sweetest angel to showing off a surprisingly spicy little personality the second his blanket was loosened. But just as quickly as he’d give us a fierce little newborn stretch or a brief protest, he’d drift right back to his default "sweet" setting, content to snooze in his parents' arms.
To top off an already incredible week, Mom and Dad received the best news right before our session wrapped up: they were officially cleared to discharge and head home just in time for the Fourth of July weekend. Bringing home a brand-new baby boy to join his big siblings right as the holiday fireworks and celebrations were kicking off made the entire experience feel like a double celebration.
