There is a brief, magical window around six months where milestone sessions are full of pure personality. They're sitting up, showing off those newly discovered thigh rolls, and starting to form very clear opinions about the world around them. My recent studio session with this sweet baby girl was the absolute perfect mix of peaceful snuggles and priceless expressions.
We started off the session in true baby-led fashion. I rocked her into a deep, cozy sleep, carefully transferred her onto the studio backdrop, and immediately went to work capturing those quiet, unhurried details—tiny eyelashes, soft cheeks, and little fingers tucked in close.
She stayed fast asleep for a few glorious minutes until a sudden Moro reflex jerked her awake.
Now, usually, waking up mid-nap in a brightly lit studio calls for a few tears. But not this little lady. She didn't cry for a single second. Instead, she locked eyes with my lens and hit me with the most hilarious, iconic stink eye for the remainder of our time together.
From that moment on, it was her world and I was just taking pictures in it. Even behind her skeptical glares, her fierce little personality shone through every single frame. These unscripted, highly expressive moments are always the ones parents end up loving the most—because years from now, they won't just remember how small she was, but exactly who she was at six months old.
